Lincoln.

The Glory Hole.

Lincoln is a lovely city, and has the usual habit that most towns have adopted of mostly ignoring its canal. There is one part of town though where they do celebrate the passage of the waterway. There are, however, two sides to this celebration. The one side is muted, and this picture shows the view going into this section. This is known as the Glory Hole, and is quiet and solitary. Beyond, however…
Canal art.

This is the view from the other side of the Glory Hole. It's hard to believe that these two photographs were taken only 100 yards apart. On the East side of the Glory hole there has been redevelopment, and a new retail shopping area is graced by these two wonderful pieces of canal art. "Two?" I hear you ask. Yes, two. It's not obvious from this picture, but it's not supposed to be, I suppose, but there are two sculptures, one on each side of the canal. They are carefully placed to give the impression of the one balancing on the fingers of the other. Clever, what?
