The Backs
- St John's College. When arriving in Cambridge, on the River Cam, you find that Jesus Green Lock is closed to navigation during the summer months. However, as the representative of the Cam Conservancy, informed me, on the 1st October each year, the lock is opened to navigation by narrowboats, which enables one to navigate up past the backs of the colleges, and right into the centre of the city. On the way, you do get to see the most marvellous sights. Now read on. |
